Reiki can be translated as “universal life force energy” and is a system of energy healing that was developed in Japan in the late 19th century. A Reiki treatment consists of a practitioner placing their hands on or over the client in a standard series of positions, with the purpose of promoting balance and health. Reiki is used by people for a variety of reasons. Some use it alongside conventional medical care, to help them manage or cope with a specific physical, mental or emotional problem. Others use it as means of relaxation, or to help maintain good health and a sense of general well-being.
Reiki is a complementary therapy and is used alongside conventional medicine. You should always seek advice from your GP if you have a health concern and Reiki can provide an opportunity to add an extra element to your self care routine.
The body has wonderful healing abilities. My goal is to help you to relax deeply, setting aside the worries of the conscious mind, so that your body, mind and spirit can replenish themselves and you can enjoy renewed health and well-being.
During a Reiki treatment I use a series of hand positions placed on or above your body while you relax fully clothed either sitting or laying down. Gentle healing energies surround you and flow into you, promoting a feeling of peace.
A session usually lasts for 45 minutes to an hour and a half, is carried out 1:1 in quiet and privacy and starts with a consultation about any health/wellbeing issues. After the treatment you will be given some time to awaken from your deeply relaxed state and will be given some tips on after-care.
